I should be available to join you on Sunday, whereas it's my oldest son, John's birthday on Monday. In fact, a couple weeks ago I went into a bike shop to purchase a bike for my other son, Knute (his birthday is just a few weeks later) and John, who will be turning eight, caught his eye on this little Fuji roadbike (see attached file -- the grips are red, not pink). Since then, He's been asking me if he could get it for his birthday so he could ride w/ me. Well, I guess I'll have a new riding partner come Monday morning. Despite his age he is a strong rider. He road nearly 15 miles w/ me last weekend at about 15 mph -- and he was on a Specialized mountain bike. He'll soar on this bike.
He also has his first kid's (TOUGHKIDS) triathlon next Saturday - the day before my race. It's a short course for the kids, but it's a great way to get the youngsters involved.

> So far it still looks like Earl will make its closest approach to our area on Friday. The projected path is now closer to the coast than it was yesterday. Expect torrential rain and the strongest winds on that day. I'm still hoping that it might be possible to ride Saturday morning, but there is probably still going to be rain and wind at that time. Sunday and Monday should be good.
